Shah Rukh Khan may work with famed Iran filmmaker

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is in talks with famed filmmaker Majid Majidi for his next offering, media report speculates.

According to an Indian media report, the superstar may well join a yet-to-be-announced cinematic project at the helm of internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majidi who is no stranger to India cinemagoers with blockbuster 'Beyond the Clouds'.

An online photo of the two taken at 2019 Beijing International Film Festival has increased the odds that they might cooperate in an upcoming Indo-Iranian cinematic project.

This comes as Shah Rukh Khan has become quite selective in choosing his scripts since his last movie ‘Zero’ turned out a failure.

If this comes true, it will be a treat to have Shah Rukh Khan on a film directed by Iran well-known filmmaker whose screenplays are one-of-a-kind.

Internationally appreciated film producer, director and screenwriter, Majid Majidi started acting in amateur theater groups when he was 14.

He starred in some movies such as ‘Justification’ (1981), ‘Two Sightless Eyes’ (1983) and ‘Boycott’ (1985).

After appearing in his last movie in 1989, Majidi quit acting and directed a few short films.

His first feature film ‘Badook’ (1991) won him a Crystal Simorgh at the Fajr International Film Festival.

In 1999, ‘Children of Heaven’ (1997) was the first Iranian film nominated to receive an Academy Award. ‘Children of Heaven’ lost the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, but it won many other international prizes.
